Hack2Hire vs InterviewDB, point by point
| Dimension | Hack2Hire | InterviewDB |
|---|---|---|
| How a question gets published | Selected from candidate reports, then checked by a human reviewer with AI cross-checking before it enters the bank. Fewer questions, each one reviewed. | Crowdsourced: questions are contributed by users and gathered from other sources, which the site names as including 1Point3Acres. Breadth comes first. |
| Company and role coverage | Software engineering interviews — coding, system design, ML system design, behavioural — across the companies in our question bank. | States coverage of 200+ companies, segmented by role including software engineer, machine learning engineer and data engineer, and extending to quant interviews. |
| Interview stage | Each question carries the round it was reported in and its difficulty. | Questions are categorised by stage — OA, phone screen, onsite — and by role. |
| Recency | Every question shows the date it was most recently reported, on the company page and on the question itself. | Surfaces when a question was most recently asked, presented as a crowdsourced insight. |
| What you do with a question | Solve it against test cases in the browser, then compare with reference solutions in four languages plus complexity analysis. | Write in a built-in code editor, share your solution and discuss approaches with other candidates; the site also surfaces recent candidate notes and follow-up context. |
| Where the extra value sits | In the reviewed solution and the practice tooling around each question. | In the community around each question — discussion, notes, and reported variants. |
Choose InterviewDB when
- You are interviewing for a quant, ML or data role, where its role segmentation goes wider than ours.
- You want to read other candidates' discussion of a question as much as the question itself.
- Breadth matters more to you than whether each entry has been reviewed.
Choose Hack2Hire when
- You want each question checked before you spend an evening on it, and are willing to trade some breadth for that.
- You want to run your code against test cases and compare against a reviewed solution in your language.
- Your loop includes system design or ML system design and you want tutorials in the same subscription.
Questions people ask
Is crowdsourced worse than reviewed?
Not worse — different. Crowdsourcing gets more questions in front of you faster and brings discussion with it; review catches questions that were misremembered, garbled or repackaged from elsewhere, at the cost of volume. Which you want depends on whether your bottleneck is finding material or trusting it.
Do the two overlap?
Yes, substantially. Both draw on public candidate reports about the same employers, and InterviewDB names 1Point3Acres among its sources, which is also one of the places candidate reports about these companies appear. Expect the same question to show up in both.
Which has more questions?
InterviewDB publishes a 200+ company figure. We do not treat catalogue size as the deciding number, because neither side's count can be verified from outside and a larger count says nothing about whether an entry is accurate. Open the company you are actually interviewing with on both and compare what is listed.
