Got wrecked by Anthropic's culture round after acing everything else
Cleared two coding rounds and a system design round without breaking a sweat, then got torched in the culture interview and it was over in a day.
Nobody warned me that "why Anthropic" needed a specific value, a personal story proving I'd lived it, and somehow a critical take on something the company got wrong too. Say something generic and you're done. I gave what I thought was a solid answer about AI safety, talked about a real moral dilemma from a past job, and still got the rejection email less than 24 hours later.
Technical bar felt fair honestly. PIL, concurrency primitives, all standard stuff if you prep. The culture round is what actually wrecked me. I had no clue what they wanted to hear going in, and I still don't really know what would've worked.

Damn that's rough, less than 24 hours is a fast turnaround for a rejection.
Anthropic rejections do seem to come back quick from what I've seen.
The culture round is definitely the wildcard, technical bar felt fair to me too when I went through it.
Yeah exactly, still don't really know what they wanted from me on that one.
AI safety questions are tricky to nail because it feels like they want something specific but never say what.
