Been comparing offers and Roblox keeps coming up as the safer bet among game companies, so figured I'd share what I've actually seen instead of just vibes.
Comp's solid mid tier, not FAANG money but stable, and the stock's actually held up better than most of the gaming sector this year. Interview process is reasonable too, from what I've seen the coding rounds are mostly rate limiter or call stack frequency type problems, nothing that needs weeks of grinding LC hards. System design goes deep on matchmaking and recommendation systems though, that part actually takes real prep.
Honestly the real tradeoff is growth speed. Org structure's pretty flat and promo velocity's slower than the AI labs everyone's chasing right now. If you're optimizing for fast leveling, skip it. But if you want a stable seat with actual product ownership, I'd still take it.
Anyone actually inside want to weigh in on how promo cycles have looked the last year or two?

Stock holding up is a fair point honestly, feels underrated compared to how much people talk about the AI labs.
The interview process description matches what I went through last year, coding rounds were pretty chill compared to the SD rounds.
Yeah the SD depth caught me off guard too, wasn't expecting them to go that deep into sharding.
Promo velocity being slow tracks with what I've heard, feels like a lot of senior folks plateau there for years.
Same, though to be fair that's true at most non hypergrowth companies right now.
