Rippling loop, still waiting after the AI coding onsite round

Went through the Rippling process, wanted to share since their AI coding format isn't super documented elsewhere yet.

Phone screen was 50 minutes, delivery cost tracking problem, basically an in-memory ledger for drivers with add_driver, record_delivery, get_total_cost and pay_up_to type methods. Recruiter had recommended setting up an AI tool beforehand so I used Cursor with Claude. Got through parts 1 and 2 clean, part 3 was batch settlement logic and I finished it with about five minutes to spare, interviewer asked me to walk through how I'd handle overlapping start and end times.

Onsite had three rounds. First up was another AI coding round, expense rule engine this time, similar multi-part structure. Then system design, hotel booking system, search plus ingest plus reservation flow. Spent a lot of time on whether search should hit the DB directly or go through an index, and whether a room should model the physical room or the room type. Felt like the interviewer had a specific answer in mind and I wasn't sure I landed on it. Last was the HM round, had to put together a short deck on a past project, covered my contribution and the rough timeline, then some questions on mentorship.

It's been about a week and still no word back. From what I've read here the bar is pretty inconsistent, so honestly not sure what to expect.

did they tell you which answer they wanted for the hotel search question? feels like a coinflip every time I read about that round

nope, no hints at all, I went with the ES index answer and still felt shaky about it

the ai coding format is wild, I opted out and it went fine for me at least on part 2

a week is actually not bad for them from what I've seen, some people wait way longer

curious if you used ai for the expense rule engine round too or just coding it manually

Rippling michaelchen21 OP 18h

used it for both honestly, tried to pace myself so it didn't look too fast
