ByteDance hours, worth it for the TC bump?

Offer in hand, TC roughly 30% above my current L5 equivalent role. Everyone keeps telling me the hours there are brutal, closer to 996 than the standard big tech pace.

Not sure the math works out long term tbh, even with the bump.

YOE: 7 Current: 380k ByteDance offer: ~500k

Anyone actually there right now, is it as bad as the rumors or overblown at this point?

depends on the org honestly, ads team was rough for a friend of mine but infra was more reasonable

996 is real in some teams, not universal, ask your future manager directly about actual hours

TC bump fades fast if you burn out in a year though, worth thinking about
