Got the Airbnb offer but still processing it
For some background, I've been at a mid size fintech for about three years and Airbnb's kind of been a dream company for me for a while, so I was nervous going in.
Phone screen was a single coding problem, no small talk at all, straight into it. Time pressure was real since I still had tests to write after.
Onsite was four rounds. First coding round was the split stay booking problem, I'd seen that one mentioned on here before, had to minimize the number of bookings while allowing repeats. DFS with memoization got me there with a few minutes to spare. Second coding round was more standard.
System design was the chat system, heard that's a common one for them. I spent most of my time on the schema since that felt like what they actually cared about, more than just nailing the architecture. Interviewer was pretty quiet the whole time so I honestly couldn't tell how it was landing.
Deep dive went into my current project for almost the full hour. Tried to keep it simple, didn't want to fall into the over explaining trap.
Got the offer this week and I'm still just sitting with it, feels surreal after wanting this for so long. Anyone here made a jump like this and regretted it, or was it worth it for you?

solid result, was communication really weighted that heavily in your SD round or did it just feel that way
congrats, chat system came up for me too but i barely touched schema and got dinged for it
how deep did they go on the schema, like actual table definitions or just high level entities
actual table definitions, they wanted indexes and how i'd handle a group chat blowing up in size too
how long was your deep dive, mine ran over an hour and felt brutal
mine was scheduled for an hour and ran a little past, tried to keep each project part under 20 min like people say here
the split stay problem seems to come up a lot, did they let you jump to memoization or push you to brute force first
