Microsoft phone screen was a joke
Microsoft phone screen was a joke
Just got rejected from a Microsoft phone screen and I'm not even mad, just annoyed.
45 minutes, like 25 of it was BQ about my "most complex project" and cross team influence, then they crammed a coding question into the last 15 minutes like that's a fair test of anything. Got the Top K stores question, barely finished before time ran out.
Rejected two weeks later with the standard copy paste email. No feedback, no idea what they actually wanted to see. Classic Microsoft.

sorry man, the crammed timing is rough, happened to a friend of mine too
microsoft recruiters are brutal with the silence, took them 3 weeks to send that same copy paste email
the BQ heavy thing is so real, I got maybe 10 min for the actual coding part
yeah felt like they cared way more about the project deep dive than the code itself
top k stores question came up for me too a while back, seems common for the phone screen
yeah I've seen that one mentioned a few times, feels like a go to for them
moving forward.
