Interview Questions & Experience
1 Tech screen - coding for 1hr LC medium
1 Compentency round with deep dives into project ownership, collaboration different stakeholders
2 Coding - LC medium-hard
2 System Design - I might have messed up one so probably bringing the overall review down
I reached out to the recruiter for an update was told they would get back to in a week. Got another update that the hiring commitee decision is still pending but based on overall review, I can go forward with SDE II (IC14) with an additional AI coding round.
Does anybody have experience with the down leveling and pushing back? I have few processes that are all for Senior roles and I am on track for Staff promo at current company this year. What does the AI coding consist of?

Congrats on surviving six rounds even with the pivot.
Yeah, want to consider this as a small win, but kind of feeling bummed that the IC15 didn't work out. I'm not sure how it's going to look on my resume, as well as just general career progression that I down-leveled.
Downlevels happen way more often than people admit out loud.
how does the down level look for general career health? Are down levels looked down on or are they justifiable?
Does that AI round feel more like debugging or actual implementation?

could be both I suspect. Signals they might look for are: Are you using AI to do all your thinking, or are you directing the AI? Do you understand everything the AI is giving back? Are you able to verify the AI results and debug when necessary?
