AI layoff wave picking up, anyone else watching this

Seeing a lot of companies now framing cuts as AI-driven restructuring, not just budget corrections. Pace is apparently way up from last year, AI replacement is the new justification for everything.

Is this actually fundamentally different from the over-hiring correction a couple years back, or just the same thing with a new label?
