Capital One OA pass - sharing questions for everyone
Result: Pending (advanced to phone screen) Number of Rounds: 1
Not bragging or anything, but I scored well enough to advance and figured I'd share the question set for people coming up.
OA was 70 minutes on CodeSignal. Camera, microphone, ID verification upfront. The ID check can eat 3-4 minutes so have your license ready before you start the timer.
Q1 was the train schedule problem. Given departure times, find how long ago the most recent train departed from the current time. Binary search on a sorted schedule. Straightforward, about 8 minutes.
Q2 was two sum with duplicates. Two lists, find pairs summing to target, handle duplicate elements. The tricky part is not counting the same index pair twice. Dictionary approach. About 15 minutes.
Q3 was symmetric triplet count. Count triplets in a string where first and last characters match case-insensitively. Easy, 5 minutes.
Q4 was the closest pair with distance constraint. Find the closest two numbers in an array where their index distance is at least K. Sort with original indices plus sliding window. Spent about 25 minutes. Got it working but not 100% confident on edge cases. Submitted with 2 test failures.
Score around 1050/1200. Got the phone screen invite 3 days later.
Phone screen is next week. Will update if I remember, but I'm notoriously bad at coming back to update threads.
