Ramp onsite - 4 rounds done, architecture round had a surprise SD
Result: Pending Number of Rounds: 4
Got through the phone screen 3 weeks ago and moved to onsite last week. Recruiter said to read any prep materials they sent carefully. The format is different from most places.
Coding round was practical. Flight data analysis. Get_user_with_most_flights() and get_user_location(time) from JSON flight records. Binary search for the time query. Spent a few minutes at the start just exploring the JSON format before writing anything, which the recruiter materials basically told me to do.
AI coding round was multi-source data reconciliation. Define matching logic across customer records from two different sources. The AI tooling was available but I wasn't sure how to evaluate myself on this one. Felt more about approach than output.
Architecture round was supposed to be just a project deep dive but the interviewer added a system design question at the end. Sliding window aggregation for tracking website visits in the past minute. Not what I expected.
Behavioral was standard.
Waiting on results. If the phone screen timeline holds, should hear in 3 days.

The surprise SD at the end of the architecture round is apparently common at Ramp. Recruiter prep materials not always accurate.
Hey, do you have more details on the ai-enabled problem? Many thanks!
The AI coding evaluation confuses everyone. Nobody knows exactly what they're looking for. Seems like they care about how you direct it.
Yeah I tried to explain my reasoning before each AI prompt which seemed to go over well but hard to know.
Good luck. 3-day turnaround for onsite is accurate from what I've seen.
