Disagree a bit, some of these open ended rounds are actually testing communication and how you handle ambiguity, not just gatekeeping.

Fair point but at least tell candidates upfront what's being evaluated, the surprise factor is what gets me.

Had a friend go through something like this at a different AV company too, seems like it's becoming a pattern in that space.

Yeah I've heard something similar about a few AI infra companies lately, feels like everyone's adding a "we can't tell you what this tests" round.

Same, saw one recently that was basically just "design an experiment" with zero context given beforehand.
