OpenAI onsite, rejected after 5 rounds

5 YOE, applying for SDE. Phone screen was SD plus a coding round, went fine, moved to onsite. Onsite coding was Toy Language Grammar, parsing rules and expression eval, pretty recursion heavy with a hash table for lookups. Second round was GPU credits, standard stuff. SD was Sora scheduling, felt kinda shaky on the failure handling part. BQ was the usual LP questions, deep dive interviewer didn't know my domain well so we kept it surface level. how deep did they push on the failure handling part? curious since I have my SD round coming up.

pretty deep tbh, kept asking what happens if a worker dies mid job. wish I had a better answer ready.

did the toy language question feel more like recursion or dp? trying to figure out what to brush up on.

felt more recursion heavy when I saw something similar, hash table was mostly just for caching results.

no HC after a close call is rough, happened to a friend too. sounds like team match backup territory honestly.
