"Not the best match" after 5 rounds is so demoralizing. No actual feedback, nothing. You just have to guess what went wrong.
What was the metrics monitoring design scope? Like single region or global scale?
They said design a metrics collection and alerting system, no explicit scope given. I assumed multi-region and started with a push-based collection layer but I think they had something simpler in mind.
How did the AI coding round work? Did they give you an IDE with Claude built in or something separate?
Yeah it was like a custom environment with an AI assistant on the side. The AI was actually pretty capable, just had to give it clear prompts and then walk through the logic yourself. The tricky part was the problem statement itself, not the coding.
The terminology mismatch thing got me too in my SD round there. I called it an event bus and the interviewer kept saying message queue and I thought we were talking about different components. Wasted like half the round clarifying.
Same exact pattern. SD clarification is something you have to do in the first 5 minutes or the whole round is cooked. Hard lesson.
