OpenAI close call Result: Pending Number of Rounds: 5 Phone screen was KV store serialization. Parts 1 through 3: basic serialization, file splitting with size limit, then append-only log variant. Got through all three. VO was 5 rounds. GPU Credits for coding round 1, went fine. Coding round 2 was the virus transmission simulation with immunity states. Part 1 basic, part 2 adds the X state with duration tracking and state transition logic. More edge cases than expected. System design was DevBox...

DevBox SD is rough if your interviewer built the system. they'll push into areas you can't fake. good luck with the reinterview

as far as I can tell yes. no rejection email, flagged for sooner reinterview. still technically pending I guess.

the immunity state machine is where people lose time. X to I transition with duration tracking is the tricky part

exactly. duration tracking fine in part 1 but part 2 adds the X state and the counter resets in a way that's easy to get wrong
