The L5 to L6 path at Netflix is rough ngl. You can literally be performing at L6 level but if the org doesn't see a "business need" you're stuck. That said, ads is like their main growth area right now so you might actually have a shot there.
Def ask around about Waymo's promo culture though.

isn't it the same BS at every bay area company? the whole "business need" excuse while they're mass hiring L6 externally? If you're confident you're already at L6 level, just skip levels next year. Otherwise don't chase the promo, it's a trap that'll burn you out mentally. Better to prep LC whole year than suffer for 4 years and rage quit

Waymo is basically a backdoor into Google if that matters to you. Probably true for other Bets too since they're all under the same parent.

Do people even want to get into Google anymore? Seems like everyone's trying to get into Anthropic, OpenAI or some other AI lab these days lol

Reply to @User-ghe65I think it depends what G team tbh. My friends at other places are dying to work on Gmail, Maps, Gemini, even Nest. And yeah Wing, Waymo, Calico, Verily folks are already in the Google system
